HOT DARK KNIGHTS

JUBAL BROWN & DREW SIMPSON

July 24th 7-10pm to August 3rd

Curated by Ron Loranger
Co-president of Le Labratoroire d'Ar- Toronto's only Francaphone  media arts lab.

Drew Simpson and Jubal Brown will unleash their alternate practices to the public this July at Fountain. The two have gone to school together, lived together, and are now having a show together featuring Jubal's photo-mantages, and Drew's sculptures.

Expect to see black lacquered assemblages of cherubs, insects, jewelry, baby possums, with an occasional ooze of golden honey resin, Drew refers to this series as Epitaph to the Pleistocene Epoche.

Jubal's younger brother, Mat Brown drew up the invitation, which is a work of art on it's own. The opening reception will also have a special performance by Ullysses Castellanos.

CYCLE OF VACANCIES
ZAC & JEFF BIERK

FOUNTAIN GALLERY
Saturday July 19th - Tuesday July 22nd 2008

Cycle of Vacancies - a collection of photographs form brothers Jeff and Zac Bierk - takes a look at manmade environments in various states of dilapidation, construction and abandonment. Vacated homes with evidence of life and loss are juxtaposed with the vast, empty spaces of today's urban developments - revealing man's propensity to build without forethought and tear down without remorse.
As urban development continues its encroachment on nature, images of trees are shown in varying prominence in relation to their environments... sometimes embodying strength and vitality, other times fragility and death.
Through these themes a cyclical inevitability is suggested in both habitation and absence.
